Horse Retirement

Horse Retirement is what we do.   As former horse show people we know what your trusted partners need in their retirement years.  We only take 25 horses and they are in one of our large supervised 100-200+ acre pastures.  We also have smaller pastures and pipe paddocks with mare motels.

Our goal is to let the horses be horses.  We have creeks, ponds, meadows and the horses love it.   We are at 900 foot elevation.  Above the fog and below the snow.

Pellet lunch is included in our retirement board as is a daily check.

Pasture Retirement  $425-$495

Extra Senior Feed (if needed)   $60

Vet or farrier trims billed separately

Monthly covered Mare Motel and smaller paddock OR special Senior Horse grass pasture $505. plus Senior Feed ($60)

Overnighting at our Camps de Cheval

Our first horse camp along the creek is open in Fall of 2026.    There is a two night minimum.   We have 12 individual paddocks, room for multiple rigs and lots of shade.    Our rates are $55. night with a two night minimum for your horse and no charge for non riders who are with you.

There is a common picnic area along the creek.    On request a propane barbecue can be provided.   No campfires allowed.   There is a port a loo and well water for horse washing.

We are surrounded on two sides by the 11,000 acre Spenceville Wildlife Area and we have our own gate to the lakes and miles of improved  horse trails located there.

B&B

We are still renovating our guest houses so we are not yet open for  B&B.  Just self contained camping in your rigs.    We have two darling cottages at the castle with private gardens, fireplaces and french doors and we think you will love your stay with us.   We are a working ranch so we assume you will bring a horse and spend your days exploring.   Grass Valley is 20 min away (14 miles) with award winning restaurants and shops.  Our cottages do have small kitchens and we offer an optional food basket which has a ready to prepare dinner, cheese and wine.
